Asteroids Do Not Concern Me: Obstacle Placement Strategies


“The odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field is 3,720 to 1!”

With the introduction of the new FAQ. A small, but important, change has happened to how obstacle placement works in X-Wing:

Each player chooses three obstacles to use for the entire tournament.

This means you are no longer playing with the six different asteroids, rather, you and your opponent will make a pool of six obstacles from the 12 available.

Selling my Soul for Games – First Impressions of Imperial Assault


Hello Capital Ship fans!

So PAX East this year was an adventure and a half, more on that in a later post. The biggest news is that I finally got my hands on Imperial Assault! After playing a couple demo games (which I later learned had messed up a lot of the rules, but oh well!), I finally sat down and played out a Skirmish game, and man do I have a lot to learn. There is so much to this game, and so far my only gripe is that the rulebook setup is incredibly difficult to muck through and made learning to play far more difficult than it needed to be. A Hive of Scum and Villainy – First Impressions of X-Wing’s Third Faction



They’re heeeeeere!

Unfortunately due to having to buy a new car, I didn’t get the chance to go after all the packs I wanted to – Money got too tight. BUT – I did get my hands on the Most Wanted pack, and on a StarViper (love that ship so much more than I thought I would!), and I’ve managed to see some neat tactics with the IG-88’s. The only ship I have yet to really see in action is the one I wanted the most – the M3-A, but it’s coming soon! After a handful of games with this new faction, I’ve found some fun ideas that work wonders, and here’s a few of my favorites:

Anatomy of a Tank – Tough Devastators



Hey all, I’m back! Been a very busy month, with tournaments, job hunting, game designing, and of course lots of X-Wing! Big thanks to PCGamerPirate for writing some posts while I was off, glad to have him on the team!

So let’s get down to business. It took a couple months, but i’m now seeing Decimators settle into a a position in the meta, and unsurprisingly they’ve become the go-to tank for Empire. But how to build a tanky Decimator? That’s what we’re here for today!

Two of them, coming right at us! – Star Destroyers Preview



Well, our first Armada article! Even though we still don’t have our hands on this game, I thought it was as good a time as any to talk a little about some list theory.

So Fantasy Flight gave us a look at both Star Destroyer expansions the other day, and being the Imperial nut I am I digested every piece of info in the article and started churning out list ideas. Disclaimer: I have not gotten to play yet, so any of this could turn sour when we actually get our hands on the game to try it.
